Our Mandate

The Licence Appeal Tribunal is an adjudicative tribunal, established under the Licence Appeal Tribunal Act, 1999, with a mandate to resolve appeals regarding compensation claims and licensing decisions made by a wide variety of regulators and pursuant to appeal rights set out under a number of statutes.

Our Mission

The Licence Appeal Tribunal will:

  • maintain efficient and flexible appeal processes that are clear and accessible to the public,
  • provide fair, effective, timely and accessible dispute resolution,
  • uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and quality of work, and
  • promote consistency in adjudicative decision-making while considering the particulars of cases, the needs of the parties in a diversely constituted province, and an evolving understanding of the law.
